A Church That Prays Together
In this message from the book of Acts, we continue following the disciples after the ascension of Jesus Christ. Before the church ever preached a sermon, performed a miracle, or reached the world with the Gospel, they gathered together in prayer. Acts 1:12–14 gives us a powerful picture of the early church waiting in obedience, united in heart, and seeking the Lord together. This passage reminds us that God works through a church that prays, depends on Him, and gathers around the same Savior and the same promise.
Key Points:
Before the church ever stood to preach, the church first knelt to pray.
Obedience kept them where God told them to be while they waited for what God promised to send.
This was a gathering of men Jesus had called, corrected, restored, and brought back together.
The strength of the church is illustrated when imperfect believers gather around a perfect Saviour.
Unity is God’s people gathering around the same Lord, trusting the same promise, and submitting to the same Word.
The word “continued” shows that prayer was not filler, but the posture of the church while they waited on God.
Unity had brought them into the room, and prayer kept their hearts turned in the same direction.
A praying mother may not see everything change overnight, but prayer keeps laying the burden before the only One who can change the heart.
We pray this message encourages you to become a believer and a church committed to prayer. The early church did not begin with programs or plans, it began with people seeking the Lord together with one heart. May we be people who gather around Christ, trust His promises, and continue faithfully in prayer while we wait on what God desires to do next.
