A Serious Failure

May 13, 2026
In 2 Samuel 11, David’s greatest failure comes not during hardship, but during a season of comfort, blessing, and success. What begins with spiritual drift grows into temptation, deception, corruption, and hidden sin. This message walks through the danger of replacing dependence on God with comfort and reminds us that sin is never truly hidden from the LORD.

Key Points:
• A heart can become vulnerable when comfort begins to replace dependence.
• Temptation gains strength when the heart gives it room to grow.
• Sin grows darker when we manage consequences instead of confessing truth.
• Sin always reaches into places and people we never meant to hurt.
• When sin dulls the conscience, only God’s Word can cut through the lie.
• Sin is never settled until it is brought honestly before the LORD.

David’s failure is a sobering reminder that past faithfulness does not remove the need for present obedience. Hidden sin will always demand more, and only honest confession before God brings restoration. The heart must be guarded in blessing just as carefully as in hardship because the danger of blessing is forgetting how much we still need the Lord.
