Death Couldn’t Hold Him | Resurrection Sunday Message | 1 Corinthians 15 & Matthew 28
April 26, 2025
Today we talk through how we’re not here because of tradition—we’re here because something happened that changed everything.
If Jesus had stayed dead, there’d be no church, no gospel, no hope.
But He didn’t stay dead. The tomb is empty, death is defeated, and Jesus is alive—still saving souls today.
This is the power of the resurrection…and it changes everything.
🗝️ Key Points:
– The cross paid our sin debt, but the resurrection proved the payment cleared.
– If the resurrection didn’t happen, everything we believe falls apart.
– Paul walks through six devastating truths if Christ is still dead:
1) Our preaching is vain
2) Our faith is also vain
3) We are found false witnesses of God
4) We are still guilty of our sins
5) The dead are gone forever
6) We are the most hopeless people alive
– The gospel isn’t a eulogy—it’s a resurrection announcement.
– The tomb is still empty. The King is still alive. And the invitation is still open.
– A risen Savior demands a response.
If this life is all there is—and we’ve built it around a dead man—then we are, like Paul said, the most pitiful people on the planet. But God. But now is Christ risen from the dead. That’s not just a verse—it’s the verdict. Death has been defeated. The curse reversed. Every consequence of sin undone—because Jesus is alive. Jesus didn’t rise so we could stay the same. He rose so you could be made new. So don’t sit on the fence—because a risen Savior demands a response.
What is yours?
