How do we stay bold when speaking for Jesus costs us something? In Acts 4:23-31, Peter and John return to the church after being threatened by the religious leaders. Instead of praying for the opposition to disappear, the believers ask God for the boldness to keep speaking His Word.

The early church did not allow threats or opposition to silence their witness. They prayed together, were filled with the Holy Ghost, and continued speaking the Word of God with boldness. We may be tempted to ask God only to change our circumstances, but sometimes our prayer needs to be, “Lord, give me what I need to obey You in the situation I am in.”
