The Mission of the Church: The Great Commission in Action

September 24, 2025

What is the mission of the church? At Cottontown Baptist, we believe this question isn’t optional — it’s central to who we are as followers of Jesus. The church is more than a gathering place; it’s the body of Christ, sent into the world with a purpose. In this message, “The Mission of the Church – The Great Commission in Action”, we explore the authority, assignment, urgency, and daily call of Christ’s mission for His people.

Key Points:
Jesus sends us under His authority, not our own.
The mission is to make disciples by going, baptizing, and teaching.
People cannot be saved unless they hear the gospel.
We are Christ’s ambassadors, called to live out the mission here and to the ends of the earth.

The mission of the church is clear: to go and make disciples in the authority of Christ, in the power of the Spirit, and with urgency for a lost world. At Cottontown Baptist, we want to live as ambassadors for Christ, carrying His gospel into our homes, our community, and to the ends of the earth. The mission is not optional…it’s who we are. Will you join us in living it out?

Key Scriptures: Matthew 28.18–20, Acts 1.8, Romans 10.13–15, Acts 2, Acts 8, 2 Corinthians 5.18–20
