Why They Ran From The Empty Tomb

April 5, 2026
In Matthew 28:1–9, we are brought face to face with one of the most powerful moments in history. The women came to the tomb expecting death, grief, and finality but instead encountered the reality of the resurrection. What they witnessed did not leave them still or silent. It moved them. It changed them. And it caused them to run. This message explores why they ran from the empty tomb and what that same truth should stir in us today.

Key Points:
• If He is still in the grave, then none of this matters, but if He is risen, then everything changes for every person in this room.
• The first response connected to the empty tomb is not sitting but going.
• Heaven places urgency on the message of the resurrection from the very beginning.
• The natural response to a risen Savior is to move, speak, and tell without delay.
• It is completely natural to feel fear and joy when you encounter the presence of God.
• They did not walk, they ran because the resurrection changed everything.
• When something truly changes your life, it’s impossible to keep it to yourself.
• You find Jesus when you move in obedience to what He has said.
• The resurrection does not end with an empty tomb, it begins with a running testimony.

The empty tomb is not just a historical truth to acknowledge. It is a life-changing reality that calls for a response. Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again in victory over sin, death, and the grave. Because He lives, new life is available today. The question is not just what they saw, but what you will do with what you have heard. Will you remain still, or will you run with the truth that changes everything?
