JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY
Cottontown Baptist Church is seeking a part-time Youth Pastor to help shepherd, teach, disciple, and engage students in grades 6-12. This role is focused on helping middle school and high school students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, understand the Word of God, become faithful members of the church body, and learn to live as witnesses for Christ in their daily lives. The Youth Pastor should be spiritually mature, faithful to Scripture, dependable, relational, and able to connect with students and families. This person should love young people, support the vision of the church, and work alongside the pastor, parents, and church leadership to build a healthy and Christ-centered youth ministry.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and teach the youth ministry for students in grades 6-12 on a regular basis.
- Prepare Bible-centered lessons that are faithful to the Word of God.
- Help students grow spiritually through discipleship, prayer, worship, fellowship, and service.
- Build relationships with students and encourage them in their walk with Christ.
- Communicate regularly with parents about youth activities, needs, and spiritual direction.
- Plan and help lead youth events, fellowships, service projects, outreach opportunities, and trips as appropriate.
- Encourage appropriate connection between the youth ministry and other church ministries, including Trail Life, VBS/VBX, and other student-related ministry opportunities.
- Partner with parents by encouraging them, communicating clearly, and supporting their role as the primary spiritual influence in their students’ lives.
- Work with the Senior Pastor to align the youth ministry with the doctrine, mission, and vision of Cottontown Baptist Church.
- Help identify and develop adult volunteers who can assist in youth ministry.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and Christ-honoring environment for all students.
- Attend church services and be visible and involved in the church body
- Support church-wide events and encourage youth participation.
- Provide regular communication about youth ministry plans, upcoming events, needs, and direction of ministry.
EXPECTED SCHEDULE
- Weekly youth teaching or gathering, likely Wednesday night or another approved time.
- Sunday involvement is expected as part of being connected to the church body.
- Additional events, meetings, and activities will be planned in coordination with the Senior
- Pastor as we work together to serve our current youth and reach students in the surrounding community through appropriate ministry opportunities, school connections, FCA involvement, outreach, and fellowship.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A clear testimony of salvation through Jesus Christ and believer’s baptism by immersion following a personal profession of faith.
- A male candidate who meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry and is ordained, or willing to be ordained, through Cottontown Baptist Church.
- Agreement with the doctrine, values, and direction of Cottontown Baptist Church.
- A commitment to faithfully teach and preach the inspired Word of God from the King James Bible.
- Willingness to become a member of Cottontown Baptist Church and faithfully participate in the life of the church.
- Ability to teach and communicate biblical truth clearly to students.
- Heart for youth, families, discipleship, and evangelism.
- Dependable, organized, and able to follow through on responsibilities.
- Willingness to work under the leadership of the Senior Pastor.
- Ability to pass any required background check and follow church safety policies.
PREFERRED QUALITIES
- Humble and teachable spirit.
- Strong relational and communication skills.
- Comfortable leading small groups, Bible studies, events, and outreach efforts.
- Able to balance fun and fellowship with serious spiritual formation.
- Desires to build a youth ministry that is engaging, Christ-centered, and focused on

- Willingness to grow in preaching and pastoral leadership as needs arise.
